Description
Some tapes claim high-temperature performance. This one is rated for it. 3M 501+ Specialty High Temperature Masking Tape is built for paint jobs where the heat gets turned up — bake cycles, two-tone work, fascia painting and pipe coating. It holds at surface temperatures up to 150°C (300°F) for a full 30 minutes, so it stays put through the oven instead of lifting, curling or baking itself onto the panel.
The high-temperature rubber adhesive grabs on contact and sticks to just about anything you’ll be masking — metal, glass, plastic, rubber and EPDM mouldings included. The crepe paper backing conforms around corners, curves and irregular surfaces without fighting you, and it resists bleed-through from most industrial paint systems. The result is a crisp, clean paint line first time, not a cleanup job.
When the work’s done, it pulls away in one piece. No adhesive residue, no slivering, no picking at baked-on scraps with a fingernail. It tears cleanly by hand too, so you can leave the knife in your pouch.
