CCM Rust Con Rust Converter

Description

CCM Rust Con is a clear emulsion which efficiently converts ferrous rust to magnetite, effectively stopping further corrosion, while sealing the surface with a film of resin having very low permeability to water vapour and air. Two coats are recommended for adequate encapsulation of firmly adhering ferrous rust and it therefore forms an excellent primer coat for waterborne or solventborne exterior decorative and industrial coating systems.

Uses:

CCM Rust Con may be used on all rusted ferrous metals such as wrought iron steelwork, pipes, marine and industrial structures. When dry it may be overcoated with either solvent or waterborne paint systems.

Preparation of surface:

The surface must be clean and dry, free from dirt, dust, grease, oil, loosely adhering mill scale and rust. It is most important that, during the preparation and removal of loose mill scale and rust, a layer of firmly adhering ferrous rust is left on the surface to be converted to magnetite. Rustcon only works on ferrous rust and Not on uncorroded metal surfaces; an anticorrosive primer must be used on these areas.

Application:

Pour the required amount into a separate container, do not pour back any left over Rustcon into its original container.

Apply one full undiluted coat with a brush or roller, working it well into the rusted surface to ensure all rust is encapsulated, apply the second coat at least 2 hours after the first. Dispose of the unused material by pouring into a plastic tray, allowing to dry, and disposing of the dry material in the household rubbish.

Do not apply in temperatures below 5⁰C or above 40⁰C or when rain is expected within two hours.

Coverage:  8 – 10M² per litre depending on surface texture.

Drying:  Touch dry in 30 minutes and may be overcoated in 2 hours, depending on ambient temperature.
